Two very different warm up sketches this evening. Combined they give away too much about me.
Lady sketches.
Was listening to Joe Hisaishi and the Howl’s Moving Castle soundtrack a few weeks back and could not get the moodiest boy in the world out of my brain. Calling this ‘Boy Who Drank Stars’. I read the original novel by Diana Wynne Jones when I was a teenager and at first was completely thrown by the Ghibli adaptation when I saw it a few years later. It has since become one of my favorite Miyazaki films.
I was real mad at Yurio after episode 10. Then I remembered he’s a sad puberty ridden ice kitten and forgave him by doing some moody sketching.
I should probably just make this a fan art blog at this point. It’s really not my fault. Yuri!!! On Ice was seriously needed therapy after last month. All I want is for them to get married and retire to a poodle farm with all their gold medals.
Got tired of the wishywashy painterly style I’d been playing around with so a more line based sketch to clean the slate. Let’s get good and sappy.
Who knows what I’m doing anymore with my life. A sketch that started in celebration of Procreate adding layer groups, thank fuck, but clearly my brain has other priorities.
Quick sketch of these 2 after Ep. 9 because an anime hasn’t made me feel quite so happy and warm in like….10 years.
A personal sketch I may do something with when I was thinking a lot about memento mori. I call her The Lady of the Flies.
I was reading some old Japanese fashion magazines and there was some awesome bright pattern on bright pattern spreads I was all about. So now this sketch exists. I think it may be the start of some more intense studies.
A quick sketch from last night to cap off a horrid week & because I’m VERY antsy for updates. Jian Yi is so cute I just had to give him a lollipop.

I’m simultaneously obsessed with Mariah Carey’s song with Miguel, #Beautiful, and the new Queens of the Stone Age album. Both heavily influenced this new piece for Vaudezilla’s next Burlesque show.
